its an asix chip on it, is there a general driver out there for xp? This card was given to me by att for the cable modem to use and it auto installed on both win98 and win2k but not xp.

if theres no hope whats a cheap xp compatible ethernet card?

Well, you might want to head over to Novell, and see if they have a driver. If not, you might just have to end up picking up another network. SMC 10/100's are about 10 bucks, and they work fine. However, with the lower end network cards, you aren't able to change the MAC address of them in windows. You would need to be a 3com or Intel for that. If this isn't a concern, that might be your best bet. Hope this helps.

You can use win2k driver for winxp.

Cheap but reliable NIC for winXP: Linksys, Netgear and Kingston.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Microsoft didn't include a driver for it with XP. Novell hasn't branded network adapters in MANY years.
