I thought the k8v se deluxe had the ethernet on board. I've checked and made sure that it is enabled in the Bios. All I'm seeing under network connection is the 1394 adapter. Could it be that I have to use this old computer to once again download the drivers for this mobo. "ugh'

First I had problems with the Sata cables/finally got win xp to recognize that I did indeed have a drive/win xp installed.

My current roadblock happens to be this connection to the internet. I don't happen to have the correct cables to connect two computers together. Otherwise I'd be doing that to set up all the 'protocols' using the 'install wizard' that windows xp talks about.

Please let me know what I might be doing or not doing for this problem.

Yes, you need drivers  They are on the driver disk or can be downloaded from the Asus site.

Ha!

Well you need to stand in line behind me myself and I to slap me.

I was wading through all that mud and it turns out the drivers are what did it. I sometimes need a nudge to get things straight.

(I truly hope that I remember this in 2 to 3 years).

Got your firewall software and/or hardware in place? Wouldn't want the Sasser worms getting into your fresh unpatched Windows installation.

what he said

and if you bought the board retail, they should be on the disc that came w/ it. there may be updates available but those should at least get you online.

on my asus board, if i update my lan drivers, my network performance takes a hit actually, so i havent updated the lan drivers past the ones that came on the cdrom
