Ethereum GPU mining?

It bottomed out at $182 a few days ago. $185 now. We'll see. I'm starting to buy some more with my GPU upgrade budget. It's getting too cheap.

It's insane, all the stores around me have been scraped clean for the last few months, no 470's to 580's (1060's and 1070's are in shortage too), even second hand markets are mostly empty. It would seem to me that many people will have a hard time getting rid of their mining gpu's when everybody will start selling them in droves, flooding the second hand market.

You got it lucky

In my place all 1080 and 1080Ti are all gone. wth lol
I thought I could sell my 1070 and upgrade to 1080ti...

It's really too bad that exchanges won't let you trade currencies without BTC being the intermediary. BTC has tanked but not nearly as much as it should in relation to other cryptos. We could be looking at double digit ETH prices here shortly although I doubt they'll stay down in that range for long. Already transferred a sizable amount to GDAX, hope it posts soon so I can gobble up cheap ETH in preparation for the FOMO action we'll potentially see in Aug/Sept.

It really seems like the "easy" money in Ethereum mining is done. Does anyone here have any idea what the next hot cryptocurrency going to be? I don't want to waste time setting up another mining rig unless it has a chance of a BIG payback.

I'm not looking for "pay for my next video card" money... I'm talking "pay for my next house" kind of money 🙂

I hope it all come crashing down.

It looks like it's already happening for Ethereum. It's down over 60% in the last month, from over $370 to $130 this morning.

Hell, it looks like it dropped almost 30% in a single day. How are you guys going to convince people to use this redactedas an actual currency with price swings like this?

Profanity in tech is not allowed.

Can you imagine all the people now in full panick mode after buying mining GPUs for many thousand of dollars which they were gonna use to mine because they followed advice from people that Ethereum value would go skyrocket?

Bitcoin have also started to crash. Was $2500 a month ago. Now its $1800.

Love it. Buuuurn buuuurn

I suspect GPUs will actually start to stay in stock now... and prices will return back to earth.

I may finally be able to expand my GPU farm at discount prices.

I need to fill out my motherboard looking forward to getting some used cards so I can fill the slots use them for science such as primegrid, or other. If I could pick up say some AMD 470's, 480's for say $75 US currency a piece that would be sweet.

Only factory I am concerned about in these forums as you guys are too smart, you made your money, and are pretty much just coasting. I remember like a year ago, or longer following this thread thinking about my lowly r7 260x, did not have the funds, or I might of also been in on the ground floor.

Congrats to all you smart folks who are have weathered the storm, and got your ROI on your equipment just did not have the big bucks back then to fund such an endeavor.

It will all be back and with ATHs within a month or two. I just wish I was more liquid right now to capitalize on it.

Aww, did you miss out on any mining fun and profit?

Nah, more fun in watching it crash and burn and normalize GPU prices and availability.

Supply and demand isn't the miners responsibility. AMD and Nvidia are both to blame for the shortages. They've been through these cycles numerous times and had plenty of time to prepare for the last rush yet decided to ignore the issue until it was too late.

What's happening in August?

Keep in mind we're really still in the infancy of the potential of blockchain technology. There will be ups and downs, rises and falls of protocols, pools, and exchanges. This is all part of the normal maturation of an idea that was initially ahead of its time. Ethereum still represents a favored vehicle to realizing some of the potential of blockchain technology.

But it will likely not be the only vehicle, nor the last.
