I'm using 8192 and 256 atm.

Download the below tool. Go to the OpenCL tab. It will tell you the maximum values your card supports. 2D image size is the global work size. Work group size is the local work size.

You can think of the works values like intensity from Bitcoin. My computer shows no adverse effects with any combination of work values.

That's awesome. I'll have to use that tool to correctly set my cards tomorrow. One thing I noticed with Geforce mining is the CPU usage is much higher than with Radeon cards and while running other tasks I notice some slowdown and hitching which is not an issue on the Radeon systems. Perhaps it's just a Windows 10 thing with Geforce, not sure...
 
I used this method. Though I have W10 Pro, so it might not work for you.

I'm also using Windows 10 Pro. I spent time tonight figuring out how to prevent Nvidia driver updates so hopefully this time it will stay put with the older driver. I wish I knew what part of the driver is causing the massive slowdowns so we could use a hybrid set.

Oh well maybe the devs will eventually adapt cuda mining to Windows 10 properly. We can't be the only ones wanting this.

Considering getting more cards - probably MSI this time because the price on the PowerColor went up - but I need to get another PSU and 3 more risers... can't remember where I got the risers I have (have 2, but need a USB 3.0 cable for the other one), but I think it was a seller off ebay.

Haven't done anything to the clock speeds or voltage (kill-a-watt showing draw of entire system under load/mining is hovering around 450W). I really need to get a copy of Windows for it to make it a lot easier to do so. Temps at 68-70C. Hashrate isn't bad:

Mining with 2x290s at 1100/1250, stock voltage, the power usage is approximately 575w (from the wall) according to the Corsair AX1200i software. I'm getting 30MH/s per card.

Nice speeds for default clocks. Looks like you should be able to get the rig up to 42Mh with a bit of overclocking. Do you know what memory type you ended up getting with those cards? Do they support voltage control?

Reading Newegg comments it looks like the MSI 380 cards support undervolting like the Sapphire units but here in Canada they cost the same and the Sapphire has the added backplate and ballbearing fans so I went for it instead.

Love the setup though, I'll probably have to do the same soon as it's much more efficient to run off one or two motherboards with a bunch of cards.

I wonder if those AsRock mining boards are still around...

That's pretty good. I undervolted my two Fury X's last night and together am pushing approx 64Mh at 575W with a 1KW EVGA Platinum PS but I'm my idle wattage on this system is around 80W. Once I move them over to a more efficient system it should drop 30 watts give or take.

290/390's are much better value over the Fury's but if buying new I think the 4GB 380's are the best (21/22Mh once tweaked) for the price.

What clocks are you using for your Furies (or is it Furys, lol)? I'd like to undervolt but 1100 core is not stable if I undervolt.

I only experimented with the Fury's for 30 minutes or so last night but from memory using MSI Afterburner I set -30mv on the cores and -25 for the max power. Memory is clocked at 545 and GPU cores are set to 1100mhz. Anything below -25 for power delivery would cause drops on one of the cards from 1100Mhz down to 1025-1050 or so. I'm sure there's more room to tweak as I have both cards linked (one card will inevitably be better than the other) so I need to run them separately and and see where they end up.
 
FYI here's a screenshot of my pool mining stats.

Miner1 = Fury's
Miner2 = 390
Miner3 = 970
Miner4 = 380

Of course these stats are rough approximations of speed but the last 6 hour results are roughly inline with what my console output shows.

Another MSI 390 is enroute and hopefully it arrives before the weekend so I can add it to the pool. This is where I stop though as the power costs really start to add up (even at 12 cents per KW).
 
Whoever was getting 30 MH/s per 290, how did you get that? I have mine at stock clocks of 1030/1300 IIRC, and only get around 25 MH/s per card. Any special arguments or settings you use?

I am using the "--cl-local-work 256" and "--cl-global-work 8192" options in my bat file. Before those options I was only getting 28MH/s at 1100/1250. Clock speed made a fairly big difference for me. I think I went up maybe 4-5 MH/s by going from stock 947 to 1100 core.
 
Hmm ok that might be helpful, and default clocks are 1000/1300. I will have to give those options and a bit of an OC a try 😀

Yeah I wouldn't be running my cards at 1100 core if I wasn't watercooling :sneaky:
I got reference 290s, so I'd be deaf otherwise.
 
Chrono, what is that PSU? Is it a custom modding case of some kind?

Not a lot of headroom to run 2 R9 380s by itself, but I have another 500W power supply running off the same ribbon (20+4 pin Y-cable/splitter) powering one of the cards. I usually don't have higher wattage PSUs laying around... getting at least a 750W soon, though.

It's a pretty nice looking PSU for the money. I'll probably put it in an acrylic case eventually with a UV light. Worker name for the mining rig is Medusa. :awe:

I installed the new AMD 16.3 drivers today and noticed my 290x performance tanked with mining Ethereum. My Fury Nano didn't tank as badly. My combined was 45Mh/sec and after the update it was like 30Mh/sec. I reverted my drivers and now I'm back at 45.

Did anyone else try this?
 
Ended up with a 380 - wasn't quite ready to dive all in out of the gate. Able to drag ~20mh/s out of it with the benchmark, but the Suprnova dash reports 27mh/s. Not sure what's up with that.

Thanks, looks like those arguments are making a difference already.
 
On side news I reflashed my launch blower powercolor 290 to 290X and started mining on it on the other comp. -19mv and 52% fanspeed, it still throttles a little, around 950 MHz. Getting about 26MH/s from it.
 
Installed the 16.3 AMD drivers this morning. Huge cut in hashrate with anyl global/local combination. 30 down to 25 at most. More like 16. Anyone else seeing this?
 
Yes it works fine except Windows update for some reason keeps updating the damn driver even after explicitly turning off updates. Gotta figure out how to stop it and then all should be fine.

I'm using Etherium 0.9.41 release.

So, i tried to use those drivers, but they don't support 980ti's. So i tried the oldest driver that did with no luck. I'm confused, because i absolutely had my 980ti's mining at 21 m/hash apiece on windows 10, so i have no idea what changed. I also made sure windows 10 isn't auto-updating drivers.

I eventually gave up and installed ubuntu. I finally got it working, but that stuff is rocket-surgery to get set up.

Have you set Power Efficiency to Off? If that doesn't help you may have to rollback.
