Well I spoke too soon. I'm having issues with the crimson driver loading slowly at boot and hanging with a cnet.exe memory error at shutdown. I tried the trick posted over at the amd changing the properties on it to run as administrator and that seems to have worked FTM. AMD is supposedly investigating the issue and hopefully will address the issue soon.

Bumpgate and the countless laptops that died prematurely didn't even dent them. When you have defective hardware that destroys otherwise perfectly working computers, it's the worse thing possible for a hardware vendor.

Ever since then, nothing negative stuck, like water off a duck's back.

Yerp, and I think tential hit it on the head - with the user base discrepancy, nothing negative will stick to NV like it would AMD.

Installed this morning. Didn't get a lot of time to test. Love the new Radeon software. It's a bit odd that additional settings dumps back to CCC. I'm guessing that will be completely integrated in a new release.

Only tested Star Wars Battlefield. It was always fast. It seems even faster and smoother than 15.11.1 beta. Unfortunately, I'm getting some corruption on the Walker Assault desert map. The rocks that are laying on the ground look like they have very overzealous motion blur. The rest of the textures are fine. I disabled motion blur and it's not quite as pronounced, but still there. This wasn't happening in 15.11.1 beta. Note this is with an Gigabyte r9 290 Windforce. The Fury card in my sig is getting delivered today.

Figured out what was causing the issue. Doesn't like TAA.

Anyone having trouble with a random crash & failure to boot via Windows 10? Got a crash earlier today in the middle of playing FO4. Computer wouldn't boot back into Windows. Safe Mode works ok, but not regular Windows. Had to roll back Windows 10 to the pre-Crimson image to get it to boot up again.

2nd time this happened. First time I thought it was a fluke. I'm gonna stick with CCC and see if it happens again.

I've had a weird problem with returning from sleep mode.

When I return from sleep, I have these weird "ticks" all over my screen, like horizontal lines "twitching" or something like that... It's hard to describe. The first time it happened I rebooted and it went away... The second time I turned the display off and on again and it also went away.

Hello.

Forgive me if it has been discussed, but gpuz and msi afterburner report catalyst 15.8 being installed.

Is this normal? I mean it's their glitch right?

Yes I had done that since day one.

I had 11.1 beta before and it was ok.

Uninstalled it before I installed the crimson.

Getting strange small square artifacts in both Fallout 4 and SW:BF. Fallout 4 compass is messed up unless Im crouching. SW:BF I lost the ability to see the titles of some menus and I have corruption where lighting doesnt load right in certain maps and everything is black.

Well this morning it crashed on me during boot up leaving me with a black screen. I tried system restore and then finally ended up doing another clean install of 10 on my laptop. This time after I installed crimson I rebooted without doing anything else and it seems to be working ok. I didn't get any of the error messages like I did before. When WU started flaking out I knew I was in trouble and that was just before I rebooted to that black screen.

Try disabling the Shader Cache for those two to see if it still remains?

Well, at least it's the worse thing possible for a hardware vendor who doesn't have a PR/marketing department equal to the challenge. :D

Still, Nvidia largely deserves its reputation for good drivers as it devotes a lot of resources to optimizing them for popular games - before release. Good drivers on launch day are simply much better PR than are good drivers a week or two after launch. Then, it's just catching up to the competition.

15.300.1025.0 I think is the correct driver version, so it's probably just GPUz which needs an update,

This fixed the compass for my nephew: https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/492378806376707838/

Basically you add 2 AMD dll's to the Fallout base directory and you keep the performance increase but fix the compass.

Very good observation.

I should have gone to my videos and pay attention to what gpuz was showing in 15.11 since I always record that stuff. Stupid me. :p

It was showing 15.201.1151.1007, so yes it is updated.

Thanks.

This Crimson driver is super buggy. I installed it again yesterday and it failed to boot up again. This time after a normal startup and not a hard crash in the middle of the game. Had to put it into safe mode and use a driver cleaner to get it to boot again. 3rd time I've had to do uninstall the driver.

I was noticing some strange artifacts popping up very rarely when gaming since installing. I finally toggled the rivatuner overlay while gaming and was shocked to see clockspeeds hitting 1200 MHz...

I then checked my global Overdrive settings and saw it was at a 10% overclock with a 125% power limit. This 10% OC coupled with the 10% OC on MSI Afterburner meant I was at a 20% oc for the past few days without a voltage bump... Didn't even notice.

I'm surprised I was able to game at ~1150-1200 MHz for this long without any serious problems. Before the Crimson Driver, I had to give the card a serious voltage bump to game at those clockspeeds. Kinda impressed... Going back to 1100, but I am now interested in seeing how much more I can lower the voltage and keep it stable.

I noticed my framerates were incredibly low after updating, for some reason this new driver is setting my GPU and memory speeds to half the normal speed. I have to go into overdrive and reset the settings (they show up at -50% even though I hadn't enabled overdrive) and it ran fine after that, but it seems to reset itself when I restart. I installed the new beta so we'll see if that fixes it.

In the pcper stream with the AMD employees, they said it will all eventually be rolled into the new GUI, but they wanted to get it released before the year was out.

So, they released a beta without saying what it really was. No wonder that fan issue happened.
