It's odd, I've never had an issue before at all. I'm guessing since the drivers and installer have changed so significantly that the A/V didn't recognize it. Installed honestly in a few seconds once I disabled the A/V, the install was faster than the Catalyst ones typically were.

If this is the new standard driver install, it's amazing. I don't know how Nvidia's is right now, but this is stupidly fast.

If AMD can deliver on the promise of more frequent driver updates, they may see a full reversal on the "AMD drivers suck" side.

Watched the stream replay from PC Perspective. I have to say I am really impressed with how quick and responsive it is along with how streamlined it looks. On top of that, good functionality as well. Nvidia needs to do a complete overhaul on their software to compete because it is slow and clunky by comparison.

I have a hunch once Zen launches alongside their new GPU's AMD/Radeon may make a very strong comeback.

Got it also, but appeared only the first time after a restart.
Goes away after that.

Same here. Got an error message on both my PC and my brother's PC (with a 260X) the first time shutting down after fully installing the drivers (not the restart to finish installing them). Went away after that.

I asked because I've had the AV pause an install while I clicked OK, and then it continued. Never actually had it ah heck one, but I can understand how it can happen. The one bad issue I did have happen is I was flashing an updated bios to my video card and had Windows decide to do an auto restart that I didn't get a chance to stop. Bricked the card. So now I don't take any chances and turn off AV and disconnect. Have done it for years.

that's just pure FUD at this point anyway. Haters are always going to say that. Like people warning against Crossfire being so bad. Then proceed to talk about the last crossfire setup was 7970 before the frame pacing drivers even.

I always found a lot of that to be FUD to be honest, as an owner of both AMD and Nvidia cards I don't think twice going to either side as long as price to performance value is fine.

I didn't say whether it was true. I'm just saying market perception wise. I honestly would be super annoyed by Nvidia's driver strategy if I was still gaming on my laptop and kept updating. I HATE having to do driver updates. Drivers shouldn't need to be optimzed for every specific game that comes out. That's so stupid. If that's the case, I then PREFER the GFE method of simply pushing the driver update out, preferably behind the scenes with an update that doesn't require a restart.

Right now though, I rarely have to update AMD drivers, I usually just get the biggest updates when features come out that I want, or the Omega/Crimson update which has proven to be amazing.

Too bad though the video features don't work within Kodi or web browsing (I can't get some steady motion porn?) and in general, I'm not sure what I'd actually want to change in the settings given to me by AMD for game specific profiles so none of it really matters to me. But it's nice to have a far better CCC experience that's for sure.

Nvidia is stupidly behind now that this is out. People need video of it though and PcPers luckily has one and I'm sure other people do. It seems AMD is making it "known" that they are putting effort in their drivers, and the new CCC and update strategy should begin to swing a lot of the people who don't really know better but of course diehards will be diehards.

We can only hope AMD's efforts can make the "bad drivers" meme die out once and for all. It's not the early 80/90s ATI days anymore.

Crimson is certainly a lot of steps on the right direction, not only on the UI front but also on functionality.

what a fail, the old ccc is still there if you hit additional settings. wtf AMD?
unless im doing something wrong but all the cool shit isnt available on my carrizo laptop, I cant even change my desktop resolution from crimson...puzzling.

This is the worst POS software ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been friendly to AMD for most of my life. The fact that I can't change resolutions if for instance I don't want to play at 4k is beyond stupid.

You have 1 week to fix this AMD.

Edit: What's even worse. If I do pick a custom resolution. I fill in all the carp, click verify and if one single thing is off it sets it back and I have to fill it out all over.

The ATI/AMD drivers suck Meme is never going to die. What I find more baffling is that there isn't an equally chanted Nvidia sucks meme behind it.

I've had more Driver Stopped Responding issues since I swapped over to Nvidia than I've ever had with AMD/ATI drivers. I mean in one day alone I think I had 10 errors and everything was stock!

But why do I think the meme won't ever die? Because for everything AMD does to improve it's image, it always seems to stumble. And it just keeps perpetuating the bad rep/image of the product/company. At this point, I don't think AMD has any control on it. They'd have to execute a flawless product launch and with the AMD name bolted on GPUs, I think it will have to to coincide with a great CPU product.

Last I knew Tegra Tablets were catching on fire! But you still don't see a meme on Nvidia's QA issues.

Just as an FYI - Anything that Windows Display options does is not replicated in Radeon Software Crimson. You can make those changes in Windows. (i.e. resolutions and refresh rates)

Nvidia drivers are bad, but when everyone treats GPU's like football teams, then of course we ignore Nvidia's drivers because Nvidia is the GPU the majority of people are using.

What I've found actually is pretty much, Nvidia can do anything they want, and people will still buy the next round of Nvidia products, sometimes, they'll even spend more. For every customer Nvidia loses in a move that would "piss people off" more people upgrade lol/buy new gpus.

If AMD is smart, they'll split the branding for the GPU and CPU division completely so the GPU can feed off of it's own success, rather than carry the CPU weakness with it. Problem is, even with a successful GPU, AMD can ruin it by marketing it. They need to outsource their marketing.....

Bumpgate and the countless laptops that died prematurely didn't even dent them. When you have defective hardware that destroys otherwise perfectly working computers, it's the worse thing possible for a hardware vendor.

Ever since then, nothing negative stuck, like water off a duck's back.

I have reverted back to 15.11.1 (from 15.11... stupid naming AMD) because Eyefinity does not work any more, it automatically turns off 2 monitors (Left & Center) whenever I enable Eyefinity but enables the display settings. Woohoo, a whole two thirds of my screen real estate is blank. Reboot and it disables Eyefinity so I can use the PC again.

I think I am gonna bring back my test rigs for all future AMD/Nvidia drivers to prevent settings being borked by updates.

I just installed the software on my laptop after doing a clean install of the 1511 revised update and it is working fine.

Software runs great for me in my 4790k rig below. Much faster than CCC, AND if you watched the PC Perspective video with the two AMD reps and listened, the software is much easier to modify individual game settings.
Scmide, sorry to hear you are having such a hard time.

No troubles 'ere. It's pretty sleak.

Only gripe I've found is an issue that's been lingering for yonks; the settings don't apply to Neverwinter Nights. Argh.

Uhh, they took out everything you can do in Windows because it was bloat. Just go to your desktop settings to change resolution.

I just installed this yesterday. I like it so far, could be the newer drivers but everything got a 10-20 fps jump afterwards too.

Anybody having fan speed issues? Almost cooked my R9 280 playing GTA V, the overdrive profile keeps setting to manual fan control, I had to download Trixx to get the fans to work properly.

I would still suggest running 3rd party clocker/fan control personally.

The new driver is slower on my A10-7700k than the previous build. My chip is getting crashy, which may or may not be related to the driver. It may just be volt stress wearing it out @ 4.7 GHz. Regardless, I'm having to run the tests piecemeal under the new driver.

I cant find it for I need to move it so im not moving my mouse to the right, to get to my monitor thats on the left! Whats up with that? Can anyone tell me where the setting is for that? I also had to revert back because of that. I understand they cut back on options THEY thought were useless, BUT they were not useless to ME!!!!

In the Windows display settings when you right click the desktop. You click and drag the monitors to where you want them.

Yeah, fan control is broken.

I tried to set my cards fan speed manually to 75%, and then reversed to auto, but now they start at 75% fan speed every time Windows starts. And I have to change them manually every time.
