Esurance

Looks like I can save 200/yr by switching my car insurance to esurance. Anyone ever use em? Any reviews?

I use them. No claims yet so I can't say about the claims experience. But they have someone answering the phone 24/7 and a licensed agent avaliable at all times.

Esurance?

Is that like insurance for the internet so that if you get viruses and lose everything, or make a stupid decision like buying an iPod....you get your money back?

I've requested a quote from them, and it came very close to what my regular agent at Farmers' gave me. So I went with the trusted agent, otherwise I would have used them.

Wow, I just got a quote from Mercury and they beat State Farm by over $100!! I think I am switching, I just hope Mercury won't bail out if I ever get into an accident.

Wow, my difference was like $800.

Mercury Insurance is a very black and white company. They will want to know everything about you because they are very careful with their risks. DON'T try to hide anything from them because they have been doing this for 50+ years, have been taken to court by sneaky lawyers who try to get them to pay for things they shouldn't. So they are pretty good about only paying out on what they agree to pay out for on their contracts.

Lawyers don't like to deal with mercury because they are that good. Because they are that good and don't have to pay out fraudulent claims they can offer lower rates. However there are other companies that have faster claims service, but you will pay more for them.

I have mercury.

Treat them right and they will take care of you.

Just make sure you get enough coverage.

EDIT: Insurance companies don't bail out of claims, the general public is usally mis-informed about their policy and think they have something they don't. Majority of the time you hear bad Insurance stories you are not getting the full story.

I'm currently with Mercury too. I was a first time policy holder so I pretty much would get raped by any carrier but I still got a better rate from them than many of the others. After a year with them my rate went down $200/yr because of no accidents or tickets.

Heh. Nobody linked to my thread... 😉

I have eSurance in CO. Myself and my wife with no tickets, a 1984 Volvo and a 1978 VW Bus, costs $70 per month for liability. Way cheaper than anybody else for the same coverage.

Their customer service over the phone and via email has been excellent. (My gripe in the above mentioned thread was because we just had an accident and I was bothered that eSurance won't go get money out of the other guy's insurance. I was pwnd in that thread.. heh)
