Chances are, you are just having execution problems. A lot of players prefer a pad for MK.

I found a thread on giant bomb that outlines exactly what seems to be happening. One guy also has issues with F,F motions (dash in sf as well). It would appear that I am doing the motion fast enough with a short enough throw that I am not actually hitting the micro switch twice so it never really registers two times. Sometimes I get it sometimes not. I just remember in the arcade with the bat top sticks (assume happ part) I would never miss. I guess the higher resistance that pulls back to neutral more quickly helped me. So I guess it is time to do two player mode and just practice this motion for a while until I can get it every time.

Honestly it would just depend on personal preference and skill with the stick.**For example: one of the hardest things for me to do is dashing in SSF4.* I don't know why, I can't explain it but I have a hard time with double motions ( forward forward, back back, down down etc) in the middle of combos.* I can do them ofcourse, but it just feels unnatural and I am not consistent.* Anyway, as I mention, since MK relies solely on up down left right, double motions are very common.* So the MK/Happ stick feels better to me because it returns to neutral so easily where as on a Sanwa stick I don't get it back to neutral and never actually leave the microswitch at times (and therefore don't get 2 separate inputs).**On the other hand if you are comfortable with this type of motion and are an SF player it shouldn't really matter...there are plenty of moves in MK that are say...Down Forward Punch (or whatever).* You can easily just do a QCF ('hadoken' motion) and get the special out because the game is not reading the diagonal, but sees down and forward.* So you can stick to the Sanwa.

I'd say the best Soul Calibur is 2. I think the series started moving away from its roots after that. Also, before Soul Calibur was Soul Edge/Soul Blade on the PSone. I loved that game.
