there is no way in hell he had a broken ankle if he was walking around on it last night, no way in hell.

granted it is brett favre who has taken more of a beating than most QB's have and he is old, but still i'd be VVEERRRYYY surprised.

i have broken my ankle before and yea, even putting 5lbs of weight on it wasn't an option for over a month after surgery.

Step 1: Make up or exaggerate injury
Step 2: Tearfully describe how you would love to keep playing football, but the injury is preventing you from playing on the level your team and you have come to expect.
Step 3: Walk away from your teammates and your train wreck of a season with a "clean conscious."
Step 4: Jenn Sterger makes huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge profit.

adrenaline.

he was hobbling around very, very gingerly at the end of that game (I missed most of it). that slip on the last play--especially the way he fell on his ankle, showed you something wasn't right.

with the ankle and his spaghetti arm, I'm really hoping to see a lot of zombie Brett Favre costumes this Sunday. :D

Hard to say...with as much tape (and as tight as they tape them) as he likely had that probably kept the swelling (and thus a lot of the pain) in check.

yea i watched the whole game, including when he hobbled to the press conference podium.

and yea, no way he could have done that on a broken ankle, as in like an actual clean broken bone, again, from personal experience.

he also got a series of injections in his ankle. I'd assume that cocktail would make it pretty hard to feel anything. I'm sure he gets a healthy dose of (non-vicodin) painkillers as well.

I don't doubt that he's hurt. I also don't doubt that he's realizing that its time to go back home and hang up his jock.

All he has to do is hand the ball off for the first play of the game and then limp back to the bench.

You could just text him, can't say whether he'll reply with a picture of his ankle or another bone.

I assume you are saying this from a purely technical argument--as in, he can't physically walk on a broken ankle.

As others have said, you can tape that area up quite well and stabilize it enough so that he can limp around. This isn't really anything new in professional sports.

Also, they have ways to deal with the pain.
