Oscar "triple double" robertson deserves to be #1

Magic is awesome but Oscar deserves to be #1.

Nash does not deserve to be ahead of Payton. The "Glove" has it all, PPG & defense. Nash is sorelacking the defense part.

Nash is so god damn overrated. The only reason he's so damn "good" the past 2 seasons is because there are NO good PGs in the western conference to pwn his crazy crack smoking ass. Have you seen his eyes during games? That boy's high! And how the hell is he even on that list? And ranked ahead of GP? How many souls does Nash have for sale to the devil to get all these sh!t he doesn't deserve? MVP 2x? Come back from 1-3? And now 1 of the top 10 PGs of all time? Weak.

I hear that he has one more soul left to sell, but he can't use it to win a championship.

Once again a newb shows his true colors. PG's who can dribble the ball down the court and set up the offense are a dime a dozen. It's about playmaking, either scoring yourself, or setting someone else up for the score, playing lock-down defense, etc. Any nublet with ball handling skills can go through the motions and run an offense.

When discussing point guards, points take a back seat to assists...rebounds are with the spare tire tools in the trunk somewhere ...

It's all about assists, turnovers, and steals.

Well, it's all about managing everything that's happening on the floor. If being able to knock down the three disrupts the defense enough that you can move the ball around better, then so be it...

But yes, any of those three you mentioned are more important than rebounds. It's hard to run the floor if you're stuck in the lane pulling down rebounds

it's funny, only 4 out of the top 10 have won championships.

also, you might call me a clipper fanboy, but if Shaun Livingston stays healthy he will be on that list.

Ball handling is something a 'nublet' can do? You must be a great basketball player because ball handling is incredibly difficult even at the Juco level. You played at at least the Juco level right?

As for the description of what a point guard does "Shoot or pass to someone who shoots". You must know something I don't, because the masters at that, Francis and Marbury both missed the playoffs again. While players who stay within an offense (Parker, Nash, Kidd, Williams, Cassell, Billups) are still in the playoffs.

Oh well, maybe someday you can teach me about shoot/pass basketball.

Check out the voters chart:

1. BJ Armstrong is an idiot - look at the people he left off his list!
2. (Perhaps on a related note to No. 1) Who voted for Scottie Pippen as a point guard?
3. Jim O'Brien does not have Oscar Robertson in his top ten AT ALL!?
4. Micheal Ray Richardson = sympathy vote.
5. Dave Bing deserved more votes.
6. We will never agree about this list ;)

IMO, GP has it over Nash, if only by a little.

4 years ago, and earlier, when GP was in his prime he was a monster. He got to the hole at will, posted up smaller defenders and abused them at will, played lock down D, etc...

Oh, and you guys slighting Stockon are just crazy....top 5 PG absolutely.

The top 6 are obvious and require no discussion but

2001-2003 Jason Kidd > 2005-2006 Steve Nash

Discuss.

Mmm, false.

Basketball fans absolutely die for nostalgia, which leaves Nash a step back. 5 years after he retires he'll fly up on this list, especially if he wins a ring.

If Nash would join ATOT, I'd give him my account, because he's the best there's been for quite awhile.

Edit: Regarding the list as a whole, I'd drop Stockton back 2 spots and drop Kidd back 2 spots. Then it looks good.

I thought the list was pretty much spot-on.

And they have Kidd ranked higher than Nash, so I am not sure what you are saying.

The reason I say discuss is because a lot of people think Nash is the best thing since sliced bread.

Nash won MVP two years in a row. It raises the question of did he really deserve it? If someone like John Stockton were playing today, would he have won the MVP over Nash? What does this say about the talent level of the NBA? Sure players can score, but do they really dominate anymore?

nash is like stockton with flash. maybe thats why he won it twice?
