Hey Guys can a pc damage by ESD through the case when the case is disconnected from the power source and how would you know a pc is suffering from esd ?

I don't believe a PC can be damaged by Electro-static Discharge because people unplug and move PC's all the time without damage. Now, a component...like a motherboard or video card or RAM CAN be damaged by the static discharge which is why it is highly recommended to wear a wrist strap when handling these components or at least touch the case frame to ensure your body is clear before touching these parts.

Yep, try rubbing your 9800 across a carpet floor for a while and chances are, there may be a problem :) Always make sure you're grounded to the case, at least.

how would you know a pc is suffering from esd ?

Things stop working altogether. If it's fried, it's fried and it probably won't turn on.
