Escalade EXT embarrasses: Fuel-guzzling pickup is a barrage of bad taste

Well, is it really any different than a $300,000 sports car? Or a $60,000 motorcycle?

That's right though... focus on the SUV's. I know it makes your package feel bigger.

Most around here knows that I am a big supporter of SUV's...but this thing is ridiculous. Get a regular Escalade and be done with it 😀

Um....I can't even think of a $60,000 motorcycle off the top of my head....maybe the WSB homologation specials that they only make 50 of.

Man, who whizzed in your cornflakes this morning?😉

Regular Escalade is significantly different from the EXT.

Compare EXT to Avalanche is more like it. But we all know how you feel about the AV. 🙂

what an article!

<< Of course, pro athletes and rappers also wear fur coats and sunglasses indoors. If that's the fashion statement you care to make, your sport-ute is waiting. >>

<< Plastic-wrapped sail panels that buttress the cab look big enough to power an America's Cup entry. Proud of its latest wreath-and-crest logo, Cadillac decided to make the EXT's the circumference of a bowling ball. >>

I ALWAYS hated teh EXTs massive logo, its tacky.

<< An analog clock is mimicked by the digital readout inches away, presumably for people who can't tell the big hand from the little >>

Best line in the article:

<< Then that person would drive off Jefferson Avenue and into the Detroit River. >>

More from the article! lol!!!
<<<< Fake-wood veneers look like something you'd line kitchen cupboards with. I've seen better synthetic wood, much better, in $15,000 Hyundais. And $20,000 VWs have genuine wood. Apparently GM can't manage it in a truck at nearly triple the price >>>>

Yep I have a Passat, and great wood.

It's montrosities like that that are increasing our dependence upon foreign oil. 10mpg? And they'll sell thousands upon thousands of the dman things.

GM is trying to compete (I guess) with the Lexus LX beast and I think they did win in some respect: The most egregious vehicle in America.

And, to murphyrulez, $300,000 sports cars aren't sold by the thousands and thousands and aren't typically used for daily transport to grocery or the day care. And motorcycles get very good gas mileage and some even meet the 2008 California emissions regulations.

Guess what Mr. Al "Earth in the Balance" Gore drives?

Yep, a 10 MPG Escalade.

Just thought you'd like to know...

BTW, so does Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the DNC.

Richard Gephardt drives a low milage SUV as well... he even had the stupidity to show up in one at a press conference where he "stressed conservation" as one critical element of energy policy. The event took place at a Senate-side gas station where Gephardt and other Democrats pointed to the skyrocketing prices for a gallon of gas and demanded action on behalf of consumers.

Proof that some people's hypocrisy knows no bounds...

the escalade is a really nice vehicle. the ext is a really ugly vehicle.

i really like riding around in an escalade. you feel... better... while in it. not to mention every sorority chick on the planet wants your knob when you're in one.

The EXT was by far the most hideous, disgusting vehicle I saw at the Philly auto show this year. Only a shallow damn fool would buy this atrocious POS.

A clear sign that the SUV era must end.

Just so you know- not all SUV's get bad mileage. For example a Ford 8000lb Expidition gets around 21 mpg with a powerstroke diesel while it only gets 10 mpg with the gas motor they offer. .

Just consider these people are potential targets and thier vehicles are big and armoured for that reason. It's a lot harder to stop an armoured 8000 lb SUV than a armoured Mercedes at 3500lbs... But There is a hint of hypocrisy I agree.
