esata on Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2

I bought an esata pci-e card, installed it (& drivers) but it doesn't work
some googling suggests that my Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2 mb doesn't support esata
is there any way around this except for buying a new mb?
