I have two budgies, blue and white/gray. The female one is pregnant. The male one can sometimes say 'heyo' but not very clear but her can say it clearer when he is older.I do not have time to take care of them because school. I barely home to play with them. They are very pretty and very active and young. I will give them to a good home. They come with their food and treats. Food and treats are like $10+.I willing to give them away for $30 dollars. I know about chicken eggs hatching in about 21 days with proper care and that after the chicks hatched at the zoo, (and after their cute stage) they were gassed and then fed to other animals.

That's about the extent of my avian egg hatching knowledge.

I know about chicken eggs hatching in about 21 days with proper care and that after the chicks hatched at the zoo, (and after their cute stage) they were gassed and then fed to other animals.

That's about the extent of my avian egg hatching knowledge.

For some reason I found this hilarious.
 
I used to have a cockatiel that always went egg crazy. She'd lay unfertilized eggs fairly often. We tried to do things to prevent it but invariably it would happen every so often. We never had much of an indication that she had an egg brewing, though. Physically, the only sign was that sometimes she'd hold her tail a little differently. Behaviorally, she'd try to find secluded areas and make nests and snap at you if you approached her, but she would act that way whenever she got into "egg mode" regardless of whether she eventually laid an egg or not.

My family ended up finally giving her to a vet's office where she lives in the lobby and is apparently quite happy and doesn't try to make nests anymore. She likes having people around but I think she just has trouble dealing with total freedom of movement.
 
You realize that a male bird has to have sex with a female bird before she can lay fertile eggs, right? I'm not sure that "pregnant" is the proper word, but it's a couple days between sex & laying a fertile egg.

You'd be correct. Most chickens used for producing eggs for consumption won't even see a Rooster for the majority of their life, let alone get knocked up.

Who cares if the egg is fertilized or not? Certainly not me. I assume that 100% of the eggs I eat are fertilized.

But, if you butchered chickens that are laying eggs, you'd find that there are eggs inside them at various stages. They don't go from nothing to laying an egg overnight.
