All it takes is a simple googling of "Diebold hack" to see how poor the security of these machines appears to be. Yes, an insecure ATM could cost the bank big $$$, but an insecure voting machine could cost the country even more...

The difference is a loss at the bank from a faulty ATM is just written off. It's a nice tax break.

A loss at the polls is a loss for the entire country, one that can't be written off.
