My friend is having trouble burning cd to cd. I've never seen a problem like this before so I'm clueless.

Under the properties of both drives in explorer, there are no errors reported. The cd burner works when burning stuff from the harddrive. But when trying to copy a cd/burning directly from a cd to another cd, Nero and Adaptec returns an error stating that both drives are on the same IDE port. Any ideas? Thanks...

Move the burner or CDROM to the other port (this can cripple HD performance) or use the HD as a cache when you burn.

Be sure the cdrom is master. Cdrom drives generally are UDMA 33 and some burners still use PIO mode 4. Also do a drive test in cd creator,it will give you an idea of speed the cdrom is reading in relation to the burn speed on the writer(according to the software). You may find that attempting a burn at a slower speed will be more successful. I always create an image and I have not made a coaster yet. I rarely if ever use test and create when using an image. Just create and go...

The weird thing is that it used to work... just mysteriously started showing that error...
