Error when Win XP starts

Junior Member
Every time I log on I get an error saying "The procedure entry point Ptr could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll." I have no idea what this means, or any way to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this isn't the right category to post this in then i'm sorry, i'm new here. Thank you

Considering there isn't a "tech support" area on this forum, but there is an Operating Systems area where this could have been posted.

To resolve this issue, I would look into the following:

-> Find the .DLL file on your Windows XP CD and copy it to your hard drive. This will be some work because it's not too much fun to look through a bunch of .CAB files for the file you need. However, I have done this with success before.

And another option:

-> With Windows XP, you have the option of "fixing" your current installation. I have utilized this method before by by booting up my system from the XP CD and then selecting the option to fix the current installation. This worked quite well and I was quite pleased with the results.

Mods: Please move this thread over to the Operating Systems forum. Thanks!
