Error Slipstreaming SP2 for Windows XP Pro

Hey Guys,
I'm using Windows XP Professional Corporate and I tried slipstreaming SP2 into the directory where I extracted the CD to. I used the instructions from Neowin.net but after it extracted SP2, it showed an error message and said that update.exe needed to be restarted. Do I have to use a Windows XP computer to slipstream SP2 or will my Win2K computer work?

Interesting..... I had the same error when I tried slipstreaming SP2 and I was using Win2K. I had to do the slipstream on my test XP box and it worked.

i have gone beyond bemused to frankly bored about people having to justify why their corporations run the corporation version of XP Pro.

to my kowledge it is an official MS product.
Heck you name 1 piece of software that is discussed and "supported" by this forum that someone, somewhere hasnt got a hookey copy of, and no-one has much of a problem

mention XP Pro Corp and the "pphheeeewww...not sure" automatically kicks in!

Hmm... I downloaded AutoStreamer and it gave me an error message:
"Run-time error '372': Failed to load 'CommonDialog' from COMDLG32.OCX. Your version of COMDLG32.OCX may be outdated. Make sure you are using a version of the control that was provided with your application." I just extracted the files in the ZIP to a folder and clicked on AutoStreamer.exe and I got that. Anybody know what happened there? 😕

that has been happening, it works nonetheless. you can read the last few pages of the thread i linked to. it has been happenning in SP2

Thanks guys. I got the slipstreaming to work manually using Windows XP. I guess it won't work well under Windows 2000.

Yes i tried to do it also from win2k & it doesnt work, looks like for now autostreamer needs to be run from XP to work.
