ERROR PERFORMING INPAGE OPERATION

I have a new SATA 320gb Seagate in a new external and I transferred all my data onto it to format the old drives....

today when i turn on the drive it wont read and then says "error performing inpage operation"

please please please help i need the information on this drive.

it was working completely fine 5 minutes ago. I dont understand. They are new and was working fine. I did plug it into a different computer to transfer files and then it started to not work... i doubt this has anything to do with it because its a new computer...

It sounds to me as if the external case you're using is bad, or is going bad. BTW, with electronics, it makes absolutely no difference how old it is, when trying to determine whether or not it has gone bad.

If you are using it in an external enclosure over USB, make sure you double click the safely remove hardware icon in the system tray in Windows and click Stop on the USB device. If you power down the hard drive while its reading/writing it may cause problems/corrupt data.
