Error messages and/or automatic rebooting

I have recently been having problems with my computer either giving me error messages and/or rebooting itself. I have tried formating my hard drive to get rid of the problem but it still happens. I have checked to see if I have a virus but Nortons doesn't find any. I have an Antec Tower with a 400W power supply,3 hard drives,1 DVD+RW drive,1 CD ROM drive, GeForce 4 videocard, and a 3.5 floppy drive. If I shut my computer down for awhile then turn it back on the computer will run fine for a couple of hours then start messing up on me again. I thought it might be the PSU not being able to handle everything but I'm not sure. The temperature of my CPU stays at about 40 C or under so I know its not over heating. Anyone have any suggestions?

check your ram. I've had similar problems in the past before, and the ram turned out to have caused it.

hmmm, im thinking a heat issue, eveh though what your CPU is regestiring at is fine, what are the specs of the machine?

I'm using a Pentium 4 2.53 GHz CPU on a Gigabyte GA-8IEXP motherboard with a 1 GB RAM chip and a 512 MB RAM chip both made by Kingston. The 1GB chip is in the first slot and the 512MB is in the third slot.
