Error Message- need help

Recently I was playing a game online when I heard a small clicking noise and lost all the noise to my speakers. The game crashed to my desktop and then the computer seemed like it froze because i couldn't move my mouse. So i rebooted the computer and ever since I rebooted it, I keep getting the following message as soon as I get on my desktop:
"CtHelper Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Also, I can't access the Creative AudioHQ program for my sound card(Audigy Gamer), i just get a message similar to the one above when i try to launch it. My computer seems to function normally aside from those issues and I still get sound from my speakers. I've updated my virus definitions and scanned my Windows hard drive partition but no virus was found. Any ideas why this is happening or what I could do to stop it? Thanks for any help/advice.

I would disable it, but I don't see it listed with the services when I look in the control panel. Is CtHelper an abbreviation? Also, could this be an issue with my sound card or sound software programs since I can't open my Creative programs? Should I try reinstalling it?

Does it show up in the Startup folder? Start-->Programs-->Startup. If it does, just delete it.

Unless I'm mistaken, it might have an entry in the registry at HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run (or thereabouts). If you see an entry there you could delete it.

Where did the clicking sound come from?

You can most likely disable it by removing it from your registry. Of course, if you don't feel comfortable using the Registry Editor, don't!!! Bad things can happen if you mess things up in there. But, if you are feeling brave, try this at your own risk. Go to your Registry Editor. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. You will probably see reference to the "Cthelper" there. Delete it and reboot. If you need it later, you will have to reinstall the drivers. Good luck!

I checked in the startup folder, but the program wasn't listed. So then I checked in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. I'm not sure which program(if any) to delete. Maybe you guys can help me. Here were some programs listed that seemed suspicious:
-CTStartup(this was located in creative sound card directory)
-NvCplDaemon
-nwiz
-HTpatch
-Jet Detection(a program associated with my Audigy)

I'm thinking my sound card has somethin to do with all this. Should I try reinstalling it and getting new drivers? I don't want to mess with my registry if I don't have to. Thanks for all the advice so far.
