Error loading OS when installing win XP

I'm using a WD1600JB as my HD, its IDE. I boot to the windows installation disc (used 2 different discs) and it will partition and everything fine, but when it reboots to the HD to begin setup, I get the error "Error could not load operating system" just after I hear it try to access a floppy disc.

I KNOW this HD works fine, but whenever I boot to a HD it refuses to...this is my old mobo, now my dad's, and it used to boot to my 2x WD 74GB Raptors. What the hell is wrong here?

I've tried the usual reset the bios using the jumper pins stuff...is this mobo just dead? I'm sick of battling with it...that's why I dumped it....for some reason my dad insisted upon keeping it.

I had the same problem once. I can't remember what I did, but I think I just reset the BIOS. I had to shut off the power supply and then move the jumper. For some reason, if I just moved the jumper without shutting off the power supply, it would keep giving the error. Then, I tried shutting off the power supply and the next boot it actually went. Weird, but it worked 😕 If you wanna get rid of the board, PM me 😀

I don't quite want to get rid of it...unless I can get another 939 AGP board to replace it that is better...which is hard these days..

I did reset BIOS, I'll try flashing it next.

Have you checked which device is set up as the boot first device? Have you tried hitting F11 to select boot device and selecting the hard drive? Can't think of much else to try 😱
