Error installing Unreal Tournament on XP

Did a search and couldnt find anybody having problems installing UT on XP (only while playing). During the install, it gets about 3/4 done and says:

Critical Error:
Failed reading source file: ..\Textures\Crypt2.utx (Incorrect Function).

This is a 1.4 Tbird (non o'c) on an ECS K7S5A mobo w/ 512MB RAM.

UT worked fine on my 98 system. Any ideas?

That sounds suspiciously like it is having trouble reading from the disk. Have you tried (temporarily) copying the entire disk to your hard drive then running the install from there? Last time I reinstalled UT(on Win98) I had to pop it out of my DVD drive and install using my CDRW drive, even though there were no fingerprints or marks visible on the disk.

I was trying to install it from a Toshiba 12X/32X DVDROM drive. Strange you had the same problem w/ a DVDROM drive, sten.
Haven't tried installing from the harddrive yet.

Same here.

I would try like sten said and copy it to your hd and install from there.
