Error installing CFM MX, unable to install installshield scripting

I'm getting the following error when I try and install Coldfusion MX Developer's edition on my desktop (Win XP Pro):

"1607: Unable to install Installshield scripting runtime."

The installer sits at "Configuring Windows Installer" for an unusually long time (20-30 seconds) before I finally recieve this error.

Anyone know how I could help it along so I could finish installing this? As always any suggestions are appreciated.

Go to www.installshield.com and look up the error in their knowledge base, you probably need to delete a registry key or bad version of their exe / dlls to get it to work 😛

InstallShield versions 6 - on are much flakier with all the COM bloat they added compared to old reliable IS 5.5.3.
