error in voltages in MSI-6905 Master?

I am using a MSI 6905 Master to set the voltages to my Celeron 533A, on a P2B-F Asus Motherboard. When I set it to, say, 1.7v, I look in my bios, and it says Vcore = 1.8v. However, it says "[err]" next to it, and the [err] is blinking.

This may seem like a dumb question, but I was thinking that the [err] was because the MB is not getting the voltage it expects from the CPU (1.5, or 1.6, dunno what the default is), and the voltage is really 1.8v when I set it to 1.7v. Hope this makes sense, and please respond.

I know that my epox motherboard overvolts by .5-.7 volts. Maybe your motherboard does too.

I have errors in my voltages too. When I set the jumpers to 1.7, 1.75, 1.8, or 1.85 v I get 1.9, 1.95, 2.0, or 2.05 v. I have a Soyo 6BA+iii mobo that allows voltage increments up to 10%. Thus, I can get 1.82 volts by setting the slocket to 1.65 v and selecting +10% in mobo bios; however, the next possible voltage setting is 1.9 v. Kind of high, but the temp is still only about 95 F.

Oh, Starcropper, I didn't see your post here. I asked if you had those settings and if you had set them correctly, but obviously you have played with them already.

rking, first off do you have the latest BIOS? Second, try setting it at 1.8 and see what you get. If 1.9, then it might be just as you said. If 1.8 that would be interesting. On old boards, they can't below 1.8 no matter what you set it at. However, at least from the experiences of AnandTech guys, it seems that if you set it below 1.8 it just refused to boot at all (instead of booting at 1.8). What's also interesting is on my P2B, if you set it at 1.75 or 1.8 it boots at 1.8, But if you set it at 1.65 or 1.7, it boots at 1.7. I don't get the [err] though, until I hit 1.9.

Similar reports here from MotherBoard Monitor. The voltage in the BIOS is set to 1.8 while MB reports 1.84 and sometimes 1.79. it jumps back and forth. Asus P3BF.

Yeah, I have the latest BIOS, it just came out 7/03/2000. Is my motherboard mis-reporting the info, or is it really 1.8, when I set it to 1.7?
