Error in Prime95

What should i do if i got an error in prime 95? It said it was a hardware failure. Can i get more specific information on the exact error anywhere?

Run Memtest86 off a bootable floppy/CD. All tests. Let if run overnight. If your memory tests okay, then you can be reasonably sure it is your CPU or motherboard. I would double check Prime95's results with other CPU stressing proggies though.

If it ends up being your Memory or CPU you can always bump up the voltage a touch or loosen the timmings and see if it passes then.

Ive got a question about memtest....to install it all you have to do is insert a floppy and then when the dos window comes up, install it to the drive, right?

make a bootable cdrom with it instead. here: http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.1a.iso.zip

burn it with nero, discjuggler or whatever else you have that can burn iso9660/2048byte/mode1 type images. you'll be able to boot from it and the tests will start automatically. i'll save you some time: the most important test in there is test #5 (cached 64kb block move) this is where you will get most if not all of your errors if the memory is at fault. it makes no sense to wait for 15 minutes till it gets to that test. so once memtest boots just hit this - C 2 5 5 Enter Enter and it will run test #5. Let it run for like 5-10 loops or overnight if you want to be absolutely sure.

memtest86 is a joke. Memory settings which would stop prime95 in a couple minutes would run memtest86 all night long.
