error "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter" when over clocking?

System specs:
Core2 Duo E6300
gigabyte 965G-DS3 mobo
ATI X1950
4gb Kingston KVR800D2 Ram

I have some extra parts and im trying to put a system together and OC it. When ever I put the fsb above 320 I get the "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter" error. I am using a divider on the ram and never going over the 800mhz its rated for even though I have read it can go to 900+ pretty easy. Is there something else I am missing?

See if there is bios setting that will lock the sata bus speed to 100 mhz. That error is because the drive is going out of spec. I am not familar with that board and bios.

Drive going out of spec + bus speed
You're going to spend a lot more money for a 2P system. The processors are more expensive, the mobo will cost more, and you'll need twice as much RAM.

What classy said. If you're using an IDE drive, try SATA (not sure, just saying). Try to force the pci-e speed to 100mhz.

But anyway, it's an older board and there were some that had weird things like that...like where if you'd "set" the pci-e speed it wouldn't really set it to where you thought it would, but would instead use a divider of some sort. I'd google around and see if there is some magic setting to stick the pci-e speed at for high bus speeds. I have an old asus board that fails like that at high bus speeds unless you set the pci-e speed to 119, lol.

Seems like overclocking with the 965G is often problematic. I found using the easy tune software that came with the mobo allowed me to get to 2.6 but no further. 🙁
