Error applying transforms - AMD Catalyst Install Manager

I'm receiving the a message "error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid."

I think the cause of it was when I downloaded CCC online but then re-downloaded it when I inserted the AMD driver CD. I noticed that there was 2 Install managers. It allowed me to uninstall one, but the second one gave me the error message.

I run Windows 8 and the graphic card is a Sapphire HD 7950.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

It appears I'm just making things worse now...

I tried to install the drivers from the CD once again so I could use CCC but during the download process it crashes and I get the BSOD irql_not_less_or_equal.
