erratic floppy drive behavior

I've got a floppy drive that doesn't seem to read any boot disk when i put it in while booting up, however the drive can read disks while in an OS like winxp.. i've tried 2 different floppy drives, and both do this.. Also yes, A: is listed as first in the boot sequence..

drove me crazy cause it took me a while to figure out that it wasn't reading any disks on booting up, however it did read in winxp..
i'm probably guessing it's the motherboard..

anyone else seen this kind of problem before?

thanks,
Alex

You might want to double check your bios settings to see if it is set in the right boot order and if seek on boot is enabled.

I am having a simular problem. See my post on FORMAT C:.

I have got the right sequence in the bios, so I am wondering if it is the board - maybe a bad floppy drive ??

orig. post says i do have it first in boot sequence..
and also floppy seek does not care whether it is enabled or disabled.. if it's in first boot sequence it will boot off of it.. (read mobo manual for more info).. although i have tried both enabled/disabled for the heck of it.
