ERR_SSL_Protocol_Error or ERR_Connection_Refused

I still keep getting this ERR_SSL_Protocol_Error or ERR_Connection_Refused multiple times a day on Chrome when using a PC. When using Internet Explorer the message is "This page can't be displayed".

When this happens, I can't get a ping response from e12200.e12.akamaiedge.net (174.76.226.162 or 174.76.226.148) as the ping requests just keep timing out. Then ~5 hours later the forums work again.

It wasn't too frequent a few months ago, but each passing week it gets harder and harder to browse the forums. Today it took 5 hours of tying to be able to see anything. If it repeats history, I won't be able to see the forums in another few minutes.

I can always get on on my phone though. But browsing and typing on a phone is far from ideal.

Unfortunately there is no specific fix to this solution. I would first recommend for you to to turn off all chrome browser extensions and to try to access the site again. If the issue persists you will wan to check your system host file and then delete the file. Here are steps to do that:

Go to your computer Star menu and type the bellow file root in the search box. C:WindowsSystem32driversetchosts
Now right click on the host file and click on the 'Open File Location' button.
Right click hosts file and select Properties from the below menu.
Now click on the Security tab from the top menu bar and then click the edit button.
After that, click on the System tab and check all the Permission under “Allow” boxes and uncheck all the “Deny” boxes.
Now click OK and then again OK button.
Finally delete the host file and restart your PC.

Another issue maybe that your system time is not accurate and chrome is throwing up a security message due to this discrepancy. Try these two methods and let me know if this solves your issue.
