Err weird IE problem

I am obviously on the internet but for some reason IE is giving me a big problem. I usually use Firefox to browse the web but i was trying out a new poker site which i guess loads their windows with IE so I had to use it. All of a sudden tho apparently IE wont find any webpages. If i type in any URL it will just sit there..think a bit..and then say page not found...

what the heck?

I have tried:
Taking off firewall
Taking off pop up blockers
clearing all the cookies and files and such
what next?

set it back to default by going to tools - options - advanced - default.
you may just have to reinstall IE.

good try but no

have you cleared out all your downloaded program files from IE by going to c:\windows\downloaded program files and clear them to make sure.

or you can see what add ins you have in IE and clear them.

ya sure i should try that?

Check your HOSTS file...see if there's anything out of the norm in there. Maybe a spam/spyware thing was on the Poker site and altered the HOSTS file.

ie: "127.0.0.1 *"...something like (not sure exactly what it might be) that would make all of your requests go to your computer only.

good catch.

Also, go here to download this program and see what is running on your computer. In particular, when you launch IE, see if there are any hooked spyware programs that start with IE...

search for the hosts file. There is no extension to the Hosts file. Open it in Notepad. If you see any suspicious entries, delete them or post them on here and we can tell you what to do with them.
