Both from NYC. Both have been doing it for a long, long time. And both have seperated with their partners in one way or the other. But in their prime, what combo do you like best?

I would have to give it to Rakim / Eric B and the innovating lyricism of Paid in Full. So many dope lines on that album. Probably one of the most quoted under Illmatic.

I am defying your direct order. I hate hip hop. I am therefore crapping in your thread.

Id have to say Eric B and Rakim. But BOTH ARE WAY BETTER than 99% of the trash coming out today

i find it sad how people whom dislike hip hop music always have to come in these threds and troll, but people whom dislike alternative or rock music never trash threads based on that type of music. says a lot about the fans of those genres.

how could you forget Gangstarr and DJ premier? or Jeru and DJ premier?

even when rakim made his comeback he used DJ premier.

greatest DJ and producer evar = DJ PREMIER

Yeah Gangstarr has the best producer, Premo, but Guru is nothing compared to Rakim and KRS1. And the more important thing in my opinion are the lyrics, because it takes more skill thinking of dope rhymes than just producing. Even if you have a wack beat but ill lyrics, your lyrics will be heard and only that matters (ex. Canibus). If you have wack lyrics and a great beat, I probably won't be listening to the song unless someone with skill did a remix of it and had his lyrics instead of yours (Ex. 50 cent .. wack lyrics ; good beats).

Not saying Gangstarr sucks or anything, yeah they're good but I'm trying to compare the groups of the 2 greatest MCs in Hip Hop.

Hope that made sense. Lol.

I get your point but i disagree about Rakim and KRS one being lyricalist then gangstarr. All three had different styles and rakim was from a different era. I really think its about preference here. I love gangstarr cuz i can relate to his thoughts and mentality. I give you credit for listening to krs-one and rakim...but there are alot of other MC's who are just as good or better then who we mentioned here.
