What's the deal? They've been around since the Windows 95 days but I haven't seen a whole bunch. I'm considering purchasing one but don't know if it's really worth it or if it'll really make a differnce.

Enlighten me!:D

I got one a couple years ago, and it does help my wrists.
When I have to type for a long time my wrists seem to get less tired using a ergonomic keyboard.

After using one for awhile I found "normal" keyboards to feel wierd. :)

A friend of mine read that getting an ergonomic keyboard makes virtually no difference as far as developing diseases is concerned (i.e. Carpel Tunnel). They do feel a little more comfy than regular keyboards.

It's cool. Get it. It's definitely more comfortable. I'm using it right now and I rest both of my wrists on opposite sides of the keyboard, can't do that with regular ones.

imho, it depends on the user...

some people love the ergos...i hate'em hehe

I could never get used to the one we got...my typing was like waaayy slow :( Like <40wpm...my speed on a regular keyboard is 90-100wpm hehehe And it just felt really weird to use it...so i went back to my trusty Dell QuietKey (i love this thing)

It really depends on how long you've been typing/how profficient you are with typing, etc

Personally, I found that adding a keyboard tray really helped- I can type/play games etc for hours on end w/o feeling anything. (My desk is a bit too high...if i sat at the comp and typed/played for over 1-2 hours...my shoulders got really sore :()

just my .02,

Whether or not the keyboards help, this much is true for me. I type just as fast with the egronomic keyboard as without, but it sure feels a lot better to be able to type at a more natural angle. Normal keyboards feel strange to me now too :)

Give it a shot, I love mine. Also I've got my keyboard in my lap most of the day so it really helps alot, since my arms are tightly angled when typing. If anything I type faster because my hands are more relaxed but not by much.

I love the ergo's, it also makes gaming better cause your hand is more comfortable and the buttons are generally a little bigger and easier to find.

Yeah.

At first it was strange, but you definately got used to it, and others feel off.

really helps wrists/hands a lot.

I got mine (a Samsung) brand new for 10 bones. (just do a search on Pricewatch, theres lots for really cheap).

I swear by my natural pro. Once you use one, everything else seems, "uncivilized". They also look damned good too, gets you in with the ladies;). In the case of my MS natural pro, I think it has the best feeling "key push" of any other KB i have used(actually the IBM ones are really nice). If you can get one for a good price go for it, I have had mine for a little over a year, and will never go back.

Oh yeah, I can type faster with it too, it also encourages better typing, since it is harder for one hand to reach to the other "chunk".

Peace:cool:

i've been using an ergo keyboard for years.

seems like, if they are more comfy they're putting less stress on your wrists.

you shouldn't really be resting your wrists on the palm rests cause it introduces an angle to your wrist. it should be relatively straight from your forearm to the back of your hand.

i've got arthritis in my wrists and it definitely makes a difference. when i'm on the road for business and just using my laptop keyboard, just an hour and i'm about typed out. i need a portable, folding ergo keyboard! ;)

I really like my Logitech Cordless desktop pro- Ergo + FM cordless, works from any room in the house, very comfortable.

Bummer, haven't seen it in black. Too bad too, after using this for 6 months, I would have a hard time going back to a corded keyboard.

I've been using them for about 2 years now. I like it a lot--recently purchased a 3M gel wrist pad that fits my MS keyboard and absolutely no more pain.

The only problem switching to the split keyboards is that I can't type nearly as fast as I used to (that's also probably because I don't chat online anymore either).

Maybe I am missing something, but why would you want to sit in the Kitchen and type on your monitor that is in the bedroom? Errrr.

I've used naturals for years, and like everyone else says normal keyboards just don't feel right anymore, I can use them for work and stuff just fine but it always feels nice to come home to the ergo model.
