I work at a restaurant, and me and the boss are the only ones in on Sunday mornings. However, I went in this morning, and he wasnt there. Just like last week, he left a note with a prep list, saying if he wasnt in by 8:30 I should call him. Well guess what? I jammed my finger badly last night playing soccer, and I cant really use my right hand to grip anything (i.e. knives). So I was going in to tell him I was unable to work. I really dislike the fact that his schedule says he starts at 7, but he comes in at 8:30 (if that), leaving me out to dry (half the sh!t on the prep list I dont know how to make because they adopted a new menu). It basically leaves me no option as far as sick days go, etc. I called his cell (no answer), and left a note (albeit it horrible handwriting because of my finger). It's all I could do.

First time this has happened. I better not get fired, and if I do, I honestly feel like I wouldnt want to be working for a place like that.

Haha. I like the restaurant. I get awesome hours (8-3 sunday mornings where I wouldnt do ANYTHING else), and I get 9.00/hr.

In the event of getting fired, go to your bosses boss (assuming he has one) or seek legal advice. You can't be sacked for being unable to work, especially when your boss is unwilling to.

Yeah. I dont think it will be a problem though. If it is, I wont hesitate.

He's a good guy. The restaurant is a nice environment to work in, and it's pretty close to my house. I like how they let me work sundays 8-3, and that's it. If I could find another restaurant that did that (or Saturday day shift) for me, with around ~$10/hr, I'd jump on it.
