Ergh! Invincible thumb wart!

Scouzer

Lifer
I've had this wart on my thumb for about a year now. I've had the doctor freeze it 4 times and acid burn it once. Each time I'd get a nice blood blister and eventually the skin would fall off. However, underneath the blister a fresh new wart will already have grown and the second I rip off the old skin a new wart is waiting for me.

Now I've been treating it with salicylic acid at home for about 3 weeks and the same thing--each time the skin falls off, a new wart is underneath.

How the f do I get rid of this thing?

Keep doing what you are doing. Keep killing of the skin with acid and then peeling it off. Go as deep as you can. Eventually you will win.

I once had a nasty wart under my foot about the size of a quarter. The acid thing never worked. I eventually went to a doctor and he fucking dug it out with a scalpel. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU it hurt sooooooo badly.
But it fixed it.

Huh, I didn't know getting it cut out was an option. I might have to discuss this with my doctor. I thought warts bled too badly to make cutting out an option.

When I was a kid I had a wart on my foot which I accidentally cut...dear god I must have lost a litre of blood. It would not stop bleeding!

FIRST: Get a competent dermatologist!

Aldera may work. Have your MD give you some samples. Don't worry so much that it says it's for genital warts.D:🙂

Or you could try a very expensive non-insurance covered Alpha Interferon injection.

Could also try a cauterizing scalpel, but that will leave you with a permanent hole in your thumb.

Last option is benign neglect.

Best part, no matter what you do, the virus causing it is never leaving your body, and you could always develop more warts.

I used this for a year when I was like 12 on my foot. Through the year of using this stuff it was getting smaller and smaller. After a year I ripped that fucker off my foot and it bleed like a mother fucker. I soaked up the blood and put a ban-aid on it and a week later it was healed up.

Moshquerade has the right Idea you have to keep on that fucker everyday you are at war.

my coworker in college had one. we were slicing open boxes with box cutters and he accidently sliced his finger where the wart was. He said it never came back after that!

I've never had any luck with the compound W, the acid, or even the doctor applied liquid nitrogen.

What has worked for me is a finish nail heated to a bright glowing red. I just poke at it until I can stand it anymore. Stinks pretty bad, but it only takes me a couple of treatments.

The OTC salicylic acid has varying results. It's most effective when you soak the wart in water for a bit until it's nice and soft, then have at it with a nail file. Discard nail file when finished, the point is to get as much of the top of the wart off as possible, and then apply the wart remover. This let the acid get it there nice and deep.

I had one on my palm that I basically ripped out after a year or so struggling to remove it. It bled a lot but didn't hurt too badly.

say you may have contracted it fapping and keep seeding it every time you fap with human papilloma virus

you may need gardisil to prevent it from occuring or just stop fapping

Complete fabrication.

Flat warts, which is what we are talking about generally go away on their own, come back, go away. This fact makes it SEEM like Duck tape works.

The reality of these things is that no treatment or surgery actually removes anything except the SYMPTOMS of the virus. The warts can return at any time.

Some of the advice being offered in this thread can actually cause the warts to spread.

It's basically no different than cutting off a piece of your skin the size of a quarter! I swear it's one of the most painful experiences I've been through.

I had a wart on my finger for two years. I went to the dermatologist monthly to have it cut, acid placed on it then get sprayed with liquid nitrogen for 30 secs(usually they do it for 10 seconds).

As astroidea mentioned, it was the most painful experience I have ever gone thru. I stopped after about a year. Night of this procedure, my finger hurt so much I couldn't sleep and needed to stick my finger in a glass of ice water to relieve the pain.

We decided since this wasn't working to just use a razor blade to cut off the callous/scar tissue that would develop and just use salicylic acid on it daily. Eventually, the body would react to the virus, fight it off and it would go away. After another year, it finally went away.

Interesting thing he mentioned to me was that hypnosis was an option and was supposedly just as successful as medical treatment.

fwiw - I found the Compound W Gel to be the most effective OTC treatment.

The duct tape was just being silly cause duct tape fixes everything!

As for the virus always being there. That is debatable.

Once symptoms are gone no traces of the virus can be found usually. This also depends on the type of HPV that was there.

Treatment

There is currently no specific treatment for HPV infection.[1][70][77] However, the viral infection, more often than not, clears by itself.[78] According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the body’s immune system clears HPV naturally within two years for 90% of cases.[1] However, experts do not agree on whether the virus is completely eliminated or reduced to undetectable levels, and it is difficult to know when it is contagious.[79]

Basically 90% of the time your body needs to decide it is time to fight off the virus and does so. Usually the treatments, any treatment including duct tape, works because it can cause excessive irritation to the area where the virus is located and cause your body to finally react to fight it off.
