A friend of mine brought me an old pc with Win2k, it has 9 users registered and he wants me to erase them. How can I do that?

Thanks in advance,

right click My Computer, select Manage. Go into Users, then Users, click on the user and delete. You'll likely have to remove their profile from C:\Documents and Settings

Thanks Varun,

Unfortunately it didn't work : (
You see, when I first turn on the pc and it loads Win2k, it welcomes me with a little window to enter your username and passw. By clicking in the drop down list of users I can see that there are 9 users previously registered. The way I get into the system is by double clicking enter (my friend told me this). Except that once I'm in this way, and I do what you told me, I can only see "Administrator" and "Guest" as users. Where are the other 9?

you have to login as administrator to have the right to delete other users.

unless you have the admin password you're going to be screwed & you're just better off to format it & start fresh.

There are programs to change the administrator password, as well as some workarounds. Do a search here, there was a couple posts about this not too long ago.

If you can't find the posts, I believe one workaround is to go into safe mode where the safe mode admin account doesn't have a password set by default and most people don't know to set one. Give that a try.

When I posted my solution I made the assumption that you would be able to log in as the administrator but apparently that wasn't the case, sorry about that.

If you have a XP disc laying around, put that in and do a repair (YES A XP DISK) it will cancel out the administrator settings.

Is it possible that they're not even registered and that list is just stored somewhere? I didn't think 2k did that, but maybe that's still an option. I believe TweakUI will clear it.

The password reset program that runs off of a 1.44MB diskette has always worked for me.
