Is there a point in an ER procedure where the patient receives the blood type that they have?

V tach is cardiac arrhythmia where the heart is beating too fast, think of a car with the accelerator jammed to the floor, you want to slow down the engine before you wreck something or wear out the engine (heart), intervention branches on whether the patient is stable or unstable.

De-fibrillation is used on ventricular fibrillation, one of the most common rhythms preceding sudden cardiac death.

O- is the universal donor, & blood it can be given in a trauma situation relatively safely. Still not a good idea though, much better to match the blood type... but if it's urgent as in a trauma setting 0- is acceptable. A unit of blood is ~300cc's

I'm an RN & work in a teaching hospital, that means I have remind the residents of policies & procedures routinely and try not to kill them in the process...

If a cut is very thin, but very deep, like with a razor, and on the face, do they stitch or use that plastic stuff?
Specific ehhh? Yeah, I plan to freak out my teacher.

And in legalities, if they bring in a homeless guy, do they treat him?

They'd suture the underlying tissue first, muscle to muscle, to keep the shape of the face symmetrical, without dents, etc (from the seperated muscle tissue) then close the skin with smaller thread & stitches to leave a smaller scar. A good surgeon can do an amazing job, and the Plastic surgery fellowships are incredibly competitive, they're awesome with a needle & thread...

by law, you have to stabilize a patient regardless of insurance. you cant let anyone die. and at most county er's full medical service is provided, and paid for by the government (ie taxpayers)
