I'm gonna be installing mailman and it says I need to add a group.. is there anywhere I can get information on adding groups and managing them? I'm running Debian, thanks.

Thanks.. whats [GID] and how do I specify powers? Like, for example, if I was to make a FTP group that didn't have command line access, or even a user that didn't have shell access, or no shell account, how would I do that?
Say I have a user called 'buddy' and I've made it that he can log in to ftp and get his home directory, but now I don't want him to have shell access and I want to be able to give a few other people the same kind of access, to the same home dir with no command line access, but individual user names.. is this possible? Or something like it?
