Remember they said they would double their bandwidth to 3mbs from 1.5?

But the actual DL speed I observed was 250kbytes/sec to 300-320.

That's not double...

1.5 mbps == 187 kilobytes per second, max
3.0 == 375 kilobytes per second, max

i'd liek to see how you could get 250 out of your 1.5 megabit connection, kthx

DSLReports
Go there - Do the tweak & speed tests & download Dr. TCP. That should help you boost up your DL speed to where it should be.

They always say "up to" in their specs... you're not guaranteed the advertised speed unless you pop for a T1 line.

I get a 250 KB/s average with Comcast. Can't wait for them to double my speeds :D Does this affect uploads too?

My upload went from 12 to 25K or something like that. It was better, but nothing near @HOME speeds.

i get exactly 200 KB/s out of my "1.5 megabit" comcast cable connection. the reason is what they're calling 1.5 is actually 1.7 or so. wouldn't surprise me if the underrating is different in different areas. kthx.

Do you guys have a link to where it shows Comcast doubled their download speed?

I e mailed a customer rep for my broadband carrier about this asking if they would compete with it, and he replied back saying Comcast never doubled their download speed.

Check the Comcast forums, whoever responded to your email is so far out of the loop they should probably be fired :)

I average around 30-32 for my upload, thats how it's been for months.

Right. As far as I know it's not published on their website because the whole network hasn't been upgraded... only in certain areas. They advertise on TV "Now twice as fast" in my area.

Oh, and BTW, my cat has been staring at me for at least 2 minutes.

If it can't be found on google, then no I don't. However, I did receive an official letter from Comcast stating 1.5 to 3.0 for regular customers and 3.0 to 4.0 for Comcast Pro customers.

I noticed bursts can often be much higher... I downloaded a 423 KB file earlier today in less than 1 second it said... so that's at least 423 KB/s which is quite a bit higher than 3 mbps, which is what the spec is.

Learn the difference between megabits and megabytes and it will solve your confusion.

His math is fine, he just "misspoke."
