185HP V6 - It is good, but not great. My wife's 250HP Vue is more powerful. I still think it is adequate, but some here might disagree

WTF? That's abysmally low. Why would GM put such a weak engine in one of their SUVs and such a strong one in another? What kind of MPG does it get?

Edit: Oh the engine in the VUE isn't made by GM, is it?

I really wish they would have put the Honda V6 that they put in the Vue in the Equinox.

It isn't horrible. It isn't overwhelming. It is right in the middle.

Yeah the 3.4 V6 in it really isn't too bad. It gets good gas mileage for a vehicle of that size and is a torquey little sucker.

Why didn't they put the outstanding 3800 Series II (III) V6 in that one?

I read somewhere that the Equinox trunk design is bad due to some kind of shelving system that eats up space.

I don't like the looks, but that's subjective. MPG not very good. All minor quibbles. Seems like a nice SUV otherwise.

edit: Huh--MPG is decent, but the MSRP is up there!

Outstanding in what way? It's a boat anchor. They're phasing it out for good reason.

Well, how is it really different to the pushrod 3.4 liter V6 they use now?
The 3800 is more powerful and would be a nice fit for it.

does nsf4 have an opinion on the equinox?

I actually like it, but for the money I'd rather have a Ford Focus or Jeep Liberty.

The 3400 is a 60 degree V6 which is a better design over the 90 degree 3800, plus it's a much more compact package. There isn't much room at the front of the Equinox. The 3.8 also weighs a TON - doesn't even have aluminum heads.
