saw this movie last friday, and again today, it is good, better than Matrix in almost every sense 🙂

go see it if you can

I really want to, but I am not sure if it ever made it to the theatre up here. If it did, it was only for a week or two. 🙁 Argh! I need this movie on DVD!

Within 50 miles of me, only 1 theater had it and they had it for only a week. I want to see it too.. 🙁

only bad thing is the budget for Equilibrium was nothing compared to what the Matrix had, still they do an outstanding job

I wanted to see it after I saw the trailer the first time, but I never heard anything about it except that one trailer. Looks like the DVD's coming out on May 13th, and I doubt any theaters around here are playing it. Gonna be a long wait

Yeah, the scene showing the city outside the window was horrible. Also, for some reason, the acting of the extras in it REALLY annoyed me.

I think I saw it on its opening day some months ago. I never even saw a commercial for it or heard about it. It was OK. I don't think it was better than The Matrix.

There was a lot of hype around it on movie sites. I think a lot of people say that it's better than The Matrix because it's an unknown movie for the most part, just to be different. I'm not saying you are one of these people, but if it was really popular, some people woud not be saying that.

yeah, as I said it was a low budget film 🙂

but it had a much better story than Matrix and much better fighting scenes, and much better plot surprises 😉

Yeah, I hated the extras/little roles, too. They were just horrible. I understand that he had a little budget, but they were still bad 🙂

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I saw the 'surprises' in Equilibrium a mile away. I really only thought that the last fighting scene was good.

I think The Matrix had a better story and better fighting scenes. I thought the fight scenes with Bale at the end were good, but not the others. Everything is based on opinion though!

Actually, I liked it. Maybe not as good persay as the Matrix, especially in the action department, but it more than makes up for it in the depth of the story.

true, both movies were good and I think that Equilibrium appealed to me more because of the story, so much different from the usual stuff

I thought the story was similar to Gattaca, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, etc. So for me, it seemed kind of generic. I hadn't seen things that The Matrix was influenced by when I first watched it. In fact, when I first saw The Matrix, I didn't know ANYTHING about it, so that probably helped.

I still liked the movie though. 🙂

Well, I am guessing I am not revealing anything major since it was shown in the TRAILER... are these Clerics something like the Firemen in the book Fahrenheit 451, as well as being enforcers? (Referring specifically to the bit with the Mona Lisa.)

better story then the matrix? hah! equilibrium is simply predictable, there are no surprises. its based on an old sci fi concept anyways. it is several times less original.

its not original because you've not watched the films its ripped off from. equilibrium is simplistic fun, theres nothing deeper. with the matrix you can tell its a well woven story, not some 2nd rate script with action thrown inf or kicks.
