lol at Ghost Ship. I forgot about that scene.
Read a wiki on it. It was supposed to be a psychological thriller.
The cast was super pissed when they learned it was changed to a hack and slash.

It's all BS anyways, minus the lasers.
Mythbusters sent all sorts of cables at all sorts of speeds at a dead pig, and all it did was lash it. Enough to kill it perhaps, yeah. But they couldn't do the clean cut thing like the Cube or Ghost Ship.

It's laying on the floor later at the end too. (This is the kind of detail that is often forgotten in movies)

Haha - yeah I missed it the first time and then the second time I saw it I had to rewind as I though "WTF - was that his face?!"

Equilibrium is an awesome movie.

Every movie, any head/face slice effect always annoys me. No movie seemingly "gets it right".

But the movie itself, it had relatively cheap effects in general and I couldn't care one bit, because it was done quite well.
Ultraviolet was pretty sweet and looked better with the bigger budget, but was less of a movie oddly enough. It couldn't hold a candle to Equilibrium. But the director's use of his "Gunkata" is pretty sweet, best thing about his movies.

I love the movie. I had the same issues with Ultraviolet. It's been a while and I haven't watched it again but I remember being disappointed that it wasn't as good/better than Equilibrium

So Equilibrium was a flop? According to Wikipedia, it only made $5.3M but cost $20M to make?

How can anyone not like that movie?

easy. it was lots of retarded mixed with a dash of ridiculousness. preposterous action always rubs me the wrong way, I guess.

I find I get much more out of a story if it actually cares about something and doesn't pepper an interesting plot with loads of pointless chaff in order to appease the simplest among us.

lol. it looks like a damn sticker! wheres the depth? :D

Yea, I came in here just to say it always looked like somebody put a 2d texture of taye diggs' face in during post.

In cube it always looked more to me like piano wire of some kind, or some equally thin metal wire. It's entirely possible that a thin, taut metal wire could sever limbs with enough force behind it.

As for Ghost Ship... hrm. Just chalk it up to the devil on that one.

It is pretty flat, and I certainly had that as one of my first thoughts a few years ago when I first saw it, but since then I've kind of come around in thinking about it.

When you see how much Bale sliced off, it's like an inch or so of face. It's not like it's going to stick out very far on the floor. The slice was also curved a bit so that it would be thinner overall and the victim's chin wouldn't stick out.

So I agree that it looks a bit flat, but I think it's plausible from that angle considering how high of an angle we're looking from. The nose would be a dead giveaway from a lower angle, but I can't tell from the youtube video.

well, it also looks silly because it's a perfect image of his face. One's face is determined by bone and muscle structure. A dude's sliced-off face on the ground, in reality, would simply be a flap of tissue.

Seeing it as a perfect copy plus its lack of depth to boot, is just damn ridiculous.
