Some interesting features there, but nothing really major. Odds are, the major stuff will come with RoK.

Nice

Not sure how well it works yet though, I haven't much of an opportunity to play in the last month. :(

A spam filter, nice feature! The best way to reduce spam is to not allow free trials. Of course, there are considerable commercial drawbacks to that in terms of gaining new customers.

I really want to try EQ2 again to see all of the changes that have taken place in the past 1.5 years, but everyone is so far ahead of me that there will probably be no low levels to group with (especially with everyone leveling their mains with the new expansion):(

When was the last server launched?

SOE has one heck of a developer team considering the loads of content they have added (free (included in monthly fee), expansion / adventure packs). The ability to share (nonchain) quests being added (last update or so from what I hear?) should have been in there from the begging.

Has it improved since its awful launch?

Well, I think its launch was pretty good. There weren't any server crashes, lag issues, etc. However, the game has had LOADS of content added as well as countless bug fixes and other features.

These are my two favorite changes in the game right here !!! It took them long enough but damn this will be awesome !!! Oh and in GU36 for those who don't know they also added a dressing room feature in EQ2 which is pretty awesome because it also works with house items like furniture as well. :p Ctrl+click FTW !

Merchant Buyback -Have you ever had one of those "Noooooooo!" moments, where you accidentally sell something to a shifty vendor who won't give it back? Those days are gone! New mandates have been enforced across all of Norrath and vendors will now be willing to sell you back items you have accidentally sold them.

Broker Conveniences - Game Update 37 will mark the end of the days where you have to shuffle items to your 'selling' character to have them up on the broker! All characters on your account will be able to list items for sale at the same time on the broker. Those items will remain listed provided that one of your characters logs into the game at least once every seven days.

Yes. They've pretty much streamlined everything in this game and reduced most of the mindless grinding. Performance has also improved a lot though it still can get nasty in heavily populated areas with some computers. Also the art work is still the "meh" IMHO but the game play is what really matters and EQ2 is a lot more in depth then WoW in this regard especially when it comes to crafting IMHO.

Can't believe they just now added merchant buyback, it was implemented in WoW very soon after release.

It still can't compare to the old pre-nerf EQ1 vendor buyback. Vendors had maybe 50 slots or so, open to everyone who accessed them. Once those slots were filled anything you sold them disappeared into the void, though buying something would open up another slot. "Dumpster diving" as it was called - checking vendors for valuables sold by other players - was just one nice touch of many which was systematically removed from the game by Sony, either for a miniscule decrease in the load on their servers or out of a bizarre desire to ruin the game, which they did a fantastic job of doing. My best find was a few of those fish scales from PoW used to make farwater armor (something I did, as a GM blacksmith). I think I found 3, which was worth around 60k pp, a good sum at the time.

No, free trials are a fantastic idea. But it's a relatively easy problem to fix; set it so that while you're on free trial, you can't send more than 1 msg every 30secs. And have a system where say if 10 players 'report' a free trial character for spam, then that character automatically gets booted and the account locked.

You would also have to put a gold / plat cap on them and make the unable to exchange currency with anyone other than NPCs.

Some farmers just play the free trial 24/7 and then transfer the gold off.
