Really? It seems to me that SoE is top notch in EQ2. End game raid mobs are raidable (hello raid lockout bug in WoW, finally going to be fixed in an upcoming patch), unlike some other competition. They've added more content than other competitors, and faster. The patch process is quick and simple. I read WoW forums daily and see pissed off people. The WoW (hell, and FFXI) GMs are craptastic at best. There is no dev communication in WoW. Go check out the EQ2 boards, TONS of communication. Player input is actually considered, tweaked, and implemented. Now stop spewing sh*t because EQ1 post-velious left a bad taste in your mouth. Completely different game.
Top notch? Thanks, always appreciate a good joke. I especially like the comment on a "quick and simple" patch process, especially considering what a clusterfvck the last one was. EQ1 post-
PoP (where'd you get Velious from? That expansion rocked) is but a small aspect of my opinion on Sony.
You see people complaining on WoW forums because Blizzard allows it. When people complain on Sony forums they're banned and/or the forums are shut down (seen both happen). Different mentality from an Asian corporation, Blizzard believes in allowing people to speak their mind without fear of reprisal.
All that being said, I can no longer defend Blizzard, the lag is nothing short of horrendous. About half the time, we make it through prime time with
only severe lag spikes... the other half we get a server reboot, or worse, "planned" maintenance (yeah sure, planned during primetime hours or during weekends  ). It doesn't matter that they were willing to spend the money it takes to craft a great game instead of relying on the venerable Carrot & Stick if you can't even log on.
In short, while Sony is still about the most unethical large corporation in the world, Blizzard isn't exactly wearing a halo either. It's readily apparent that their servers are insufficient to handle the load, and unfortunately they seem to be borrowing from their battle.net mentality of "don't complain, it's free" ... but WoW isn't free. Perhaps
Vanguard will offer the combination of quality & service we're all looking for.
