Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX

I got one of these tonight from CC for $198.00 w/ a $100 mail in rebate! I've seen nothing but stellar reviews on this unit, most calling it the best photo inkjet printer you can buy.

PC Card adapter is included for your Compact Flash (but you have to mail off that card and they mail you a new one in 2-4 weeks for your SmartMedia or Mem Stick)

"the quality and price approach those of prints ordered from a drugstore's photo lab."

They are NOT kidding. It totally deserves the 4 outta 5 stars it got and maybe another 1/2. The image quality on glossy photo paper is almost identical to 35mm printed film. You'd have to have a magnifying glass to tell the difference. There are NO dot marks and the pictures just look awesome.

I HIGHLY recommed this printer to any serious amature photographer that wants to produce your own shots. You can fit (2) 5x7's on a single sheet and the pricing now for the paper is way down. They were selling a pack of 20 sheets (this is at CC, you can get it cheaper online) for 10$. So that boils down to $.25 a 5x7, which turns out to be cheaper than having a lab print 35mm shots. This doesnt include ink, but still with ink spread out over time...its probably around or a little over normal shots. Plus the fact that you can pick and choose the shots you want makes it that much nicer.

Overall a killer printer compaired to any other photo printer.

yup, I got this printer and have been recommending it to ppl who want to take advantage of the $100 offer from epson. It is a fantastic printer for the price. I'll offer a few suggestions. Only use Epson paper and ink. Buy.com sells Epson paper and the ink cartridges for a very good prices. Use the printer regulary, even if you just print a nozzle test. Epson has built-in print head, and if gone unused they have a tendency to clog. Do not leave the printer on for extended periods if not in use. It is best to use them daily. Use a printer cover. Never shut them off thru a powerstrip. Do a nozzle test before any photo print job. This way you don't waste ink if the nozzles are clogged. Sometimes you'll show a nozzle clog, turn the printer off and back again and do a nozzle check. There are on occasion a faulty initialization. The best paper to print on are the Colorlife and Heavy Matte Epson papers. Happy printing 🙂

rickn -thanks for the wise words. Basically all you've said is what you should do for any Epson Stylus Color/Photo inkjet. But if you take good care of them, they are great. This is the third Epson (800, 740, 785EPX) i've owned and they are great for the performance/price. Oddly enough i still own all three (the 800 sits in a closet), but they all still work good!

Buy.com has the Premium Glossy Photo paper for 8$. This is the only type of paper i've printed on yet (only printed photos). This stuff is water/fade resistant and just looks awesome when printed. I have a pack of Matte Paper in my paper drawer that i will use on it (ive used that paper alot on my 740).

www.dell.com has the Printer onsale for $198.00 w/ a 100$ rebate. Check it out if you are interested everyone!
