I know this is kind of a repost, but wanted to make sure everyone saw this possible hot deal.

Have a friend who I sent to a CompUSA in Ft.Worth to get the 880 tonight (for $99 minus the $30 MIR) , but he just sent me an e-mail saying they gave him an additional 30 MIR for a CompUSA gift card.

$99 + tax - $30MIR -$30 Comp Gift Card = $39 + tax

Still waiting to hear back from my friend if both require original UPC.

I know Gift cards arn't as good as cash, but $39 is still a great price. I will update as soon as I hear back.

Edit:
Good news this is the reply I just got back from my friend:
"The actual Epson cash rebate requires the actual UPC symbol and copy of sales receipt - while the CompUSA gift card specifically states only a copy of both receipt and UPC symbol."

Yes let us know plz. My parents could use a new printer. Hmm...So they gave him a rebate to mail in for a gift card? It would've been better if they hand you a gift card while you're there. This is a good deal.

Pls explain this deal:
$99 - 30 MIR = $69.

So far so good ..but after that:

Do you need to use a gift card for this purchase to get another $30 MIR.
or do they give you a gift card for $30.00 ??

Pls clarify ??

desibaba,

There are actually 2 mail-in-rebates.

1 for $30 from Epson & 1 for a $30 gift card from CompUSA

I don't know why they can't just hand you the gift card, but they don't. The gift card MIR does not require the originals.

The 880 is a very nice, fast, and quiet Epson inkjet.
It is great for typical work and office work.
It also is probably the last of the Epson printers without the "only use our carts" lockout chip.

It isn't a serious photo printer as it only uses 4 colors instead of 6.
Don't have one, as I have a photo 1200, but have set up several for clients and friends.

I will see if I can get a copy of the gift card mail-in rebate tonight to see if it says anything about participating locations. I have not seen it advertised anywhere, so it may be a Dallas/Ft.Worth only deal. It looks like TBP (the person who posted when the rebate expires) also lives in the DFW area.

Has anyone else been able to get this deal?

I just got off the phone with CompUSA and the $30 gift card is available everywhere. It is on Pg 11 of their current flyer (Pg 11). $30 gift card by mail when you purchase any Epson printer over $79.

Sandigga, that is correct you will need to get the Epson rebate from Epson.com (Rebate Form). Someone in one of the previous threads called Epson to verify that they would accept MIR from CompUSA and they will. Epson will not accept rebates from Costco or Staples.

I just went to the Compusa here in nyc to purchase this printer. they were out of stock, but i was able to put an order for 1 for the sale price. The also had the coupon for the $30 gift card in their rebate section, so i picked it up, and i got the $30 mir from the epson web site.

hopefully i should be able to pick it up next week....thanks for the deal

I just picked one up.

The rebate (Gift Card) form was actually hiddin in a different place.

I found them, and scanned one, it doesnt look regional in ANY way.

You have until the 16th. Maybe look around your local store where they keep these rebate pads.

Gift Card Rebate Form

And it clearly states they accept copies of UPC code.

Good luck...

That last comment about Epson saying they would take the CompUSA receipt was all I needed. Just got back with one. There were plenty left in Sugar Land, TX. Now I'll plug it into my new SMC Barricade I got from Amazon for $40!

Just tried the Epson 880 to print some 8x10 photos, using 2880x720, Epson glossy photo paper, photo enhanced color and digital camera correction. The quality is really good (good color and resolution, no noticable dots). The speed is way lower than that claimed (It took about 10 minutes to get the full page photo done). However with that quality I guess I can wait.

For $50 it is a excellent deal (IMO). Get it when you can.

Just left CUSA BM store, tt sales(?)person. He said $99.00+ tax out door with $30.00, was all he knew about. None in stock, expecting a shipment in next week. Tampa Bay area of Florida. ;) "Forgive them for they know what they do". :D

This deal is good! There happened to be a Epson Rep at the CompUSA, and he confirmed that you can use both rebates. He was actually using the duel rebate as his selling point.

The CompUSA rebate clearly states: "Mail this form with a copy of your sales receipt and a copy of the UPC code from the bottom of the product package."

HURRY, SALE ENDS TOMORROW (6/16). This is a great printer. I've been borrowing one for the last several months and have been waiting for the printer to come down in price.

Greenhorn... I just bought the same setup. Be sure to turn bi-directional off on the printer and also turn off the error reporting feature, or you'll get an error even when it prints fine. Good luck, mine works great. Now I need a new scanner. Can't decide between the Canoscan 1220u and the Epson 1240.

I tried to buy one from Compusa in New York today, but the sales said it has been sold out, I asked him if I could put a raincheck on it, but he said it's discontinued, they won't be able to order anymore. Instead, he urged me to buy the epson 780 which is $150 before rebate and GC, he kept on saying the 780 is much better than 880, not only photo printing wise, but in text printing as well. Can anyone confirm which one is a better printer among those printers? Thanks
