The C82 is a DAMN fine printer. Even at only the medium setting, the black and color is nearly laser-quality, and a page spits out in less than 15 seconds. At draft, a page of black text comes out in 3. Lasers don't even do single pages that fast.

And it's not awful for photo printing either. Awesome on matte paper, decent on glossy. Although for the best glossies, I always use my Dad's Stylus Photo 925.

I have mixed feelings about the c82. While it looks a bit more commercial than most of the other epson midrange printers, it's performance isn't really astounding. In addition, you want to be sure that no one's sleeping when it needs to feed in a new sheet. It's tough to describe the sound it makes, but suffice it to say I jump everytime someone else prints something without warning.

I don't think it touches laser quality in the text/PS dept, but it's not really supposed to. The one bright spot is that the dura-brite inks it uses really rock. They're VERY punchy and have a little bit more lifespan than the generic inks. The bad thing is that ink goes fast and, as usual, runs about $18/color cartridge (indiviudal colors) + $35 for the black one.

The ink cartridges are where they get you anyway. I wonder if there is a printer out there that is economical in ink and has great output and is fast, all in one.
