Epson Scanner Insufficient Memory

I recently replaced my Main board with a ASUS P5-G-MX. This upgrade included an Intel Core2Duo E660 CPU, (2) 512MB -4200 CL4 240 DDR2 Memory, and a 250GB SATA II HDD.
My problem is with my Epson Perfection 1660 Photo printer, which worked perfectly before the upgrade, and appears to be working well now. However I get an error message ?Insufficient memory or disk space?.
I have 1024 MBytes of DDR2 memory. Is that what they are talking about?
I do not understand how this can be. Can someone give me a reason and/or solution to this problem? Thanks

Have you set any limits on the space the print spooler can use? Have you limited your page file size?

I am sorry Corky, I just noted that in my problem description I said Photo Printer when, in fact it is a scanner. An Epson Perfection 1660 Photo. This may cause you to want to revise your comments. Ted

OK - I use the Epson Perfection 2450. It does rely to a large degree on the page file when you use high resolution scans.

What scanware do you use?

I am using the Epson NewSoft Image View v 1,0,0,1. I have 1047724K Total installed memory, with 631224K available, Commit charge 323604K, and Page file Usage 304 MB if that tells you anything that would help.

OK - the problem may be in the software. Assume that your also have TWAIN installed? Say version 5.7.1 or better? Then you can ACQUIRE" a scan into any imagery program such as Irfanview. Then check the parameneters of the scan. What is critical is the type (color photo 24 bit) at 300 dpi. That should give you no problem. If you go to 48 bit, you can have a memory problem in some cases.

I junked all the Epson scanware. For dedicated scanning I use VueScan. Most of the time I simply use TWAIN and acquire a scan directly into my photo editing program.

Always check the Epson site for updated software/drivers. I think the software for my 1260 has had several updates since I got it. And there is an upgrade to SmartPanel 3.5 for $10. downloadable but is 70MB big - available from Newsoft.com.
