Hi my name is Rick and I am sick of a printer that forgets how to work. I have an Epson Stylus Photo 870 that worked perfect under WinME. Now under WinXP Home, it must be deleted and reinstalled daily to print. ( this is a new system with the Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo )
I know what you must be thinking - get a new driver Dude !
So I went to Epson.com and gotta new driver...same problem
Then I got some great sounding instructions from Epson Tech. Support.
same result.
So far I have..........
done several complete deletes of printer and drivers and then reinstall (works then but shut it down and bootup tomorrow no luck )
checked for conflicts in device manager
checked and change USB cables
checked and changed USB jacks
verified port setting of USB
printer ready, set as default
windows trouble shooter......POW it missed
I have used both the WinXP and Epson drivers.
After a clean delete / reinstall it will print as long as the system is on. If I then shut system down, turn it on the next day it will not print.
With the WinXP driver it gives no clue as whats wrong.
With the Epson driver it says "communication error, check power and cables, etc" ( its like it can't see the printer ! )
Something changes during the reboot that prevents printing.
There must be some "setting" that could solve my problem.
Thank you ! for reading my story of the printer that forgets to print. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Take care.........Rick
