Partial credit to fixedbyjohn for getting me to look at the refurb of this model.

The Epson Picturemate refurb has everything that the new model has except it's 20.00 cheaper at 59 vs 79. It comes with ink and 20 sheets of paper just like the retail model.

I have the Deluxe model of this I received as a Christmas present. It prints as good as a photo lab. The retail price ink might be a little expensive. The 100 pack ink with paper retails for around 28 to 29. I bought this Epson 100 pack for 22 shipped no tax from Amazon so it's down to 0.22 a print.
It's actually a little cheaper at the moment at 21.39, but you need to add a few buck of another item to get the free shipping.

How do you like the Deluxe? Is it worth spending the extra $$ over the Express?

The deluxe is nice. It has the viewer that you can see small thumbnails from your media card. That way you can look and choose which ones to print. With the the non-deluxe model, you get to choose which photos to print, but you would have to know the numbers of the corresponding prints, probably from your camera. It's just a matter of convenience. With the non-deluxe model, you could also just preview the photos from your camera, delete the ones you don't want and just print the card. That would be another way. It's around 60.00 more for the deluxe over the non-deluxe, but since I didn't purchase it, I am not sure if it's worth it.
Considering you can get the refurb picture mate for 59.99 shipped with the same one year warranty, and the deluxe is 199.99 with a 40.00 instant rebate shipped (there isn't a refurb deluxe available), you're looking at 100.00 difference. I wouldn't do it, given these available printers. I have bought refurb Epsons before and they were fine and they have the same warranty exchange as do their brand new printers. I once had an Epson refurb that needed replacing under warranty, I called them to get an RMA and they shipped a replacement to me first, and I just put the broken refurb back in the box and shipped it back to them at their expense if my memory serves me correctly.

If you look at this link here and scroll to the personal photo lab printers you will see three models that aren't refurbs. I don't know what the difference is between the PictureMate for 79.00 vs the PictureMate Express for 149 with a 50.00 MIR. They seem the same. You need to click on the printer to get the correct price. Also the one for 79 doesn't have free shipping the PictureMate Express and the Deluxe modeland the refurb model from this thread does have free shipping. That's something to think about.
